While the rest of the sports world tries to figure out how and when they will return to action, the UFC is gearing up for its fifth event in the last five weeks. UFC 250 will take place at the UFC Apex Center in las Vegas this weekend, so we can now look at some picks and parlays for the event the second major UFC PPV since the promotions return to action in mid-may. Headlining this event will be Amanda Nunes vs Felicia Spencer. It will be Nunes’ first defense of her featherweight title and all eyes will be on this main event.
UFC 250 Picks & Parlays
With that in mind, let’s dive right into that bout and make some best picks for Saturday night’s UFC 250 action.
Amanda Nunes -650 vs Felicia Spencer +425
Amanda ‘Lioness’ Nunes is coming off a pretty shocking upset of Cris Cyborg to earn the featherweight title back in December of 2018. It took Nunes just 51 seconds to take the strap from the almost unbeatable Cyborg. Nunes became the first woman to hold belts in two different weight classes and just the third fighter in history to do so simultaneously.

Standing in Nunes’ way will be former Invicta FC featherweight champ Felicia “FeeNom” Spencer. Spencer is also coming off a first-round KO, smoking Zarah Fairn Dos Santos back in February. Despite the odds, I think Spencer has a shot to shock Nunes but it certainly won’t be easy.
The Canuck “FeeNom” is an absolute assassin on the ground. Her grappling and wrestling skills dwarf most of the division and she has eight victories via submission as a pro. She really embodies an anaconda when an opponent hits the mat. Spencer has a way of smothering opponents, not giving them an inch to breathe and seems to just wrap fighters up. She also has a very strong ground and pound game which will either open up an opponent’s defenses or faces after no time at all.
Where things begin to fall apart, however, is when Spencer is forced to stand up and bang. Take for example, her decision loss to Cyborg. Spencer was outstruck 122-38 and it’s really amazing she made it to the final bell and lost via decision.
This will be the make or break part of Spencer’s fight. Can she avoid the Nunes knockout?

Those results show us just how different these fighters are and that Nunes is a much more rounded fighter.
The intricacies of Nunes’ ground game is not quite on the level of Spencer, but the fight may never even get there. And Nunes is still an elite grappler of course. You don’t avoid a loss for six years if you can’t hang on the feet and on the mat. Nunes has the ability to torture her opponents with her hands or her wrestling skills and her conditioning allower her to keep up the pace for all five rounds.
As dangerous as Spencer is on the ground, I just don’t see her having the chops to upset the champion this weekend. The fights just keep getting harder for Nunes but she just steps up time and time again. Rousey, Shevchenko, Pennington, Holm, and Cyborg have all fallen at her hands and I just don’t think Spencer is on the level of any of those fighters.

The lack of competition might become an issue in the future for her, but for now, she seems content to drop bombs on the victims’ Dana White picks for her.
Now, at -650, Nunes doesn’t have the most attractive odds so we’re going to add a second bet to parlay with.
While Spencer miraculously avoided a knockout after 122 strikes by Cyborg, I don’t see her getting so lucky for our UFC 250 picks. I think Spencer is elusive and smart enough to avoid a first-round loss, but I don’t think she has the skills to keep Nunes off her for a full five rounds. I fully expect a second or third-round win here and that addition makes this parlay rather attractive.
Best Bet: Amanda Nunes -650 & Fight to end before via TKO or Submission
That’s it for our UFC 250 picks, good luck, and see you next time.
