The name Joey Chestnut is known to a lot of people. He’s the reigning champion in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and has the world record of most hot dogs (and buns) eaten with 75. Chestnut is described as the number-one competitive eater, according to Major League Eating (MLE), and will now get to test his ability in a different type of food contest.
MLE has partnered with DraftKings to hold this year’s Halloween’s Candy Bowl, and the sportsbook has some exciting promotions lined up for the event.
DraftKings Creates Betting Pool For Candy Bowl
DraftKings has created a $10,000 Free-to-Play Pool for the upcoming eating contest, which will take place, as one would expect, on October 31. It’s available through the operator’s DFS and sportsbook channels and gamblers will be able to watch the action live. Entries have to be in by 7:30 PM Eastern Time (ET) on Halloween and anyone, existing users or new, can enter for free, provided they live in approved states.

As authorization is received, DraftKings will update the information on its website to allow more gamblers to participate. With the success other MLE events have seen, finding more support shouldn’t be a problem.
The World’s Greatest Eater Is The Odds-on Favorite
Chestnut, described as the “world’s greatest eater,” is currently listed as the favorite to win the event. He’s getting odds of -110, with the next closest competitor looking at +160. That goes to Geoffrey Esper, another major eater and world champion. Esper finished third in last year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, which Chestnut won, and is also the “World Slopper” record holder. Darron Breedon, who finished second in the Nathan’s hot dog contest this year, is getting odds of +600, with Nick Wehry, Matt Stonie and Miki Sudo finishing out the top six spots in the odds.
DraftKings Targets Halloween Football
October 31 falls on a Saturday this year, which means there will also be a lot of college football action on Halloween. One of the games on tap is between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes, which gets underway at 7:30 PM ET. DraftKings is giving new users a chance to score some extra money by offering them a boost if they join and place a wager on the game.
Few new users, a deposit of $5 or more into their DraftKings sportsbook account will produce a single-use odds boost to take either Ohio State or Penn State in the game. That boost is worth +10000 (100-1) on the chosen side to win, and can be applied when the choice is added to the betting slip. The maximum bet permitted is $1, and the boost can’t be sued in conjunction with live bets, parlays, cash outs, free bets or voided bets.
