A lot of excitement in the scoring of the NBA games featured on Monday night. The motivation to be able to start a new week was as it should, with hot action by great teams giving everything on the court. Many continue to achieve incredible streaks, such as the Phoenix Suns, who are now on their sixth consecutive victory.
Pistons Roll Over Thunder
Jerami Grant showed no mercy against his former team, scoring a game-high 21 points to help the Detroit Pistons easily annihilate the Oklahoma City Thunder 132-108 on Monday night. Grant had previously played three seasons for the Thunder, but was then traded after the 2018-19 season. Also contributing to the win, Josh Jackson and Sekou Doumbouya scored 14 points apiece for Detroit. This team was able to reassert itself after losing by 44 points to the New York Knicks last Saturday, considered the franchise’s worst loss since 1994.
On the other hand, Aleksej Pokusevski picked up 19 points for the Thunder, while Svi Mykhailiuk, who was acquired in a trade with the Pistons last month, was able to score 17 points. Coming up next, the Thunder stay at home to host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, while the Pistons visit the Denver Nuggets tonight.

Kyrie Irving was totally unstoppable and, after scoring a total of 40 points, the Brooklyn Nets managed to beat the New York Knicks in a pretty tight game 114-112 on Monday night. James Harden was finally able to return after missing two games but was unable to continue after four minutes because the same pain that had taken him out initially (right hamstring tightness) took him out of the game once again.
The Knicks’ defense was totally worn down by Irving’s moves as he hit a three-pointer with only 59 seconds left after New York had pulled within two. For the Knicks, Julius Randle recorded 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists for his fourth triple-double of the season. Both teams return to the action on Wednesday night, with the Nets hosting the New Orleans Pelicans, while the Knicks travel to Boston to take on the Celtics.
Jazz Turn Blue Against The Mavs
It was a spectacular night for Luka Doncic as the Dallas Mavericks outscored the Utah Jazz 111-103 on Monday night, scoring a total of 23 points. While Dorian Finney-Smith scored a season-high 23 points, the Mavs got their season-best fifth straight win. Jalen Brunson scored 20 points while Josh Richardson and Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 and 16 points, respectively for Dallas, who finally beat Utah after three games this season.
The NBA-leading Jazz had their nine-game winning streak halted as they were unable to get back on track all night. Mike Conley managed to get 28 points to lead the Jazz, who trailed by as many as 18 points during the game. The Mavericks now visit Houston to face the Rockets, while the Jazz visit Phoenix to warm up with the Suns. Both games are on Wednesday night.
Suns Add Sixth Straight
The Phoenix Suns seem to be shining once again, and as a sign of that, they now have their sixth consecutive victory after defeating the Houston Rockets 133-130 on Monday night. The fourth quarter was pivotal for Devin Booker, as he scored half of his 36 total points on the night during the period. Deandre Ayton was able to post a season-high with 27 points and 11 rebounds for his 25th double-double of the season and Phoenix won for the ninth time in 10 games overall, a pretty good stat line so far. Mikal Bridges and Chris Paul finished with 20 and 19 points, respectively. “I was just taking what the defense gave me,” Booker said. On the other hand, Kevin Porter Jr. had 20 points in the Rockets’ fifth consecutive loss.
