The NBA Playoffs are cruising along, providing almost non-stop basketball excitement to keep fans entertained. Undoubtedly, most eyes were closely watching the game between the LA Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers last night to see if the Lakers could get out of their slump, and the team didn’t disappoint. After dropping several games late in the NBA Bubble, the team got off to a slow start and lost the first game in the series. However, they bounced back last night to tie things up at one game apiece, and will try to keep on the plus side from here on out. The two will battle it out again tomorrow, which gives several other NBA teams an opportunity to step into the limelight today, as we look at our picks for Aug 21.
NBA Picks & Parlays Aug 21, 2020
The Nuggets And The Jazz To Put On A Show
The Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz are tied at one game each in the first series of the playoffs, and tonight’s game could set the pace for the rest of the action. The Nuggets took Game 1 after it was forced into overtime, but the Jazz easily walked away with the win in Game 2. Utah will be looking to see how point guard Mike Conley can perform in his playoff debut, having left the bubble ahead of Game 1 to be there for the birth of his son. Being a veteran player, he’ll step in without any difficulty.
The Nuggets, on the other hand, are going to have difficulty putting together a strategy to defend against Conley. They also have to figure out what happened in Game 2 that allowed the Jazz, three places lower in the West, get away with a success rate of 51.7% attacking the rim. Throw in Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell – who respectively put up 28 and 30 points in the last game – and there’s trouble ahead. Still, the Nuggets can count on Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, and this is going to make today’s game a thriller.

At +110, Utah may not be getting the respect it deserves, but the basketball world could see them differently after tonight. Given the scores these two have been putting up, the Over/Under of 219.5 seems to be soft, and there’s no reason not to think the final tally will be above that, so that’s our NBA pick for this game on Aug 21.
The Mavs Hope To Clip The Clippers
After the embarrassing losses the Lakers started to accumulate, the LA Clippers suddenly became the favorites to win the title this year. However, that’s not going to be possible if they don’t turn things around. They’ll take on the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 today and are coming off a performance in the last contest that had fans shaking their heads. Losing 127-114 to the Mavs would have seemed impossible before the game, and the Clippers will have to try a lot harder today.
Luka Doncic was on fire for the Mavs on Wednesday. The guard put up 28 points and recorded eight rebounds and seven assists. He has recorded 70 points across the two playoff games, the second-highest for a postseason debut ever in the league. After having lost to the Clippers in all of their games in the regular season, the Mavs showed everyone that they’re still in the running and can’t be dismissed. Power forward (PF) Kristaps Porzingis should be back in, along with point guard Trey Burke, but PF Dwight Powell is still working on his Achilles heel and will have to stay sidelined.
Despite the run Doncic has had, it probably won’t be enough. The Clippers are going to come out swinging with everything they have tonight, proving to everyone that being at the top of the odds charts for the championship is not a fluke. They’re getting -250 against the Mavs’ +180 will take it because of their strength. The Over/Under of 231.5 (-110) is easily within reach, with the Clippers going over in five of their last seven games as the favorite. The Mavs are up there, too, hitting the over nine times out of 11 when playing teams that have a win rate of .600 or better.
So, there we have it for our NBA picks and parlays for Aug 21, 2020. Have a great evening everyone!
