Most MLB teams will be in action today, as several division races continue heating up in the second half of the season. Here’s a look at some of the matchups on the schedule tonight.
Braves Look To Extend Road Win Streak Against Pirates
The Atlanta Braves travel to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates on Monday night in a National League matchup. The Braves have won their last six road games and 11 of their last 13 games overall. They also trail the New York Mets by four games in NL East standings and hold the top wildcard playoff spot. Atlanta took two of three games against the Houston Astros in their previous series.
The Pirates have slowly been falling towards the bottom of the league standings and are now just seven games ahead of the Washington Nationals, who hold the worst record in baseball. They are last in the NL Central and trail the first-place St. Louis Cardinals by 22.5 games. They haven’t won a series since sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers almost three weeks ago and are 4-12 in their last 16 games.

Angels Start Four-Game Series In Tampa
The Los Angeles Angels travel to Tampa Bay to face the Rays for the second time this season for a four-game series. The Angels scored 25 runs in three games in their last matchup against Tampa at home while taking two victories.
However, this was back in May when LA was near the top of the AL West standings. They’re currently fourth in the division and trail the Houston Astros by 25 games. They hope to end their two-game losing streak on the road tonight.
The Rays have been putting a lot of pressure on the AL East-leading New York Yankees and now trail them by just eight games in the standings. They’re also locked into a tie with the Toronto Blue Jays for second place. In their last series, they took three of four from the Kansas City Royals and have won seven of their previous nine games.

Cards and Cubs Meet In Division Battle
The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs will begin a five-game series tonight at Wrigley Field in a clash of NL Central rivals. The Cardinals have extended their lead in the standings and now have a five-game cushion over the Milwaukee Brewers. They also have the longest winning streak in the Majors at seven games after sweeping the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Chicago is third in the division and trails the Cardinals by 17 games. However, they have been winning recently and just had a five-game win streak snapped by the Brewers in their last matchup. They are 11-5 in their previous 17 games and now are just 12 games behind second-place Milwaukee. They will try to avoid a fourth straight loss to St. Louis tonight.
