Tempers are flaring in sports, but the trouble isn’t just being seen on the field. This week has seen a number of fights between teams – even at the high school level – but a Wrigley Field melee has them all beat. The rivalry between Chicago’s two MLB teams, the Cubs and the White Sox, is notorious, and fans took it to a new level this past weekend. There were several brawls in the game that ultimately found the White Sox winning 13-1, but it isn’t clear if its fans emerged victorious, as well. Hoping things are calming down somewhat now, there are several good games for fans and sports bettors today. The Cubs and the White Sox will be on the baseball field but, fortunately, not against each other.
Yankees Continue Slip Against the Angels
The New York Yankees (76-56) are going through a rough patch, now having dropped two games against the LA Angels (66-67). The third of the three-game series will be played today and, if the Angels can sweep, they have an outside shot at a playoff spot. The Yankees look good for a Wild Card spot, unless they continue to stumble. The Bronx Bombers have notched four losses in a row and desperately want to bring their skid to a halt.
The Yankees have a shot at it, too, as they plan on putting Gerrit Cole on the mound. He’s going to have to figure out how to keep Shohei Ohtani at home, as the MVP frontrunner has now shown that he knows how to steal bases, as well. With Cole starting, the Yankees are getting -270 on the moneyline and have a really good chance of winning, which makes this bet weak. The Over/Under is at 8.5, and backing the Over at -110 is about as close to a lock as anyone could want in MLB betting.

The Seattle Mariners (71-62) have had a decent season, but are beginning to see an unfriendly light at the end of the tunnel. They take on the Houston Astros (78-54) tonight to see if they can stay alive and make it to the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. This is the third game in a three-game series, which is now tied at one apiece. With the Mariners having blanked the Astros yesterday, 4-0, they’re feeling a renewed motivation to claw their way back to the top.
Oddsmakers are having difficulty choosing a clear winner tonight, with both teams proving to be resilient. However, with a much better offense, the Astros, at -145, have to be given the benefit of the doubt. Both starting pitchers are only having mediocre seasons, which means the Over/Under of 8.5 is likely going to be blown away. Taking the Over at -105 is a good move.
Brewers Continue Road Rage
The Milwaukee Brewers (81-52) take on the San Francisco Giants (84-48) tonight as they continue to show superiority on the road. The Brewers have now won two in a row in this four-game series and hope to sweep with two more wins. Milwaukee is now ten games ahead of the Cincinnati Reds and looking to continue to push for its best-ever franchise record.
The Giants might have something to say about that, though, and are going to come into the game stronger and more determined than ever. San Fran’s lineup appears to be coming into position just right to take out the Brewers tonight, and oddsmakers are giving the Giants an edge. San Fran is looking at a moneyline of -175, which is a good choice. The Giants are 4-for-4 in their most recent games when listed as the moneyline favorite, and tonight isn’t likely to break that streak. The Over/Under of 7.5 seems to indicate stronger action on both sides, but backing the Over at -115 still makes sense. Between the two teams, they’re averaging 9.5 runs a game.
