And just like that, the Major League season is 1/4th complete. With the season compressed into 66 days – and assuming we actually make it to late September – each 22 day-stretch is the equivalent of two months of a regular 162-game season. So this week, is Aug. 10-14 and the last week of May. And with the season in full swing, we continue taking a daily look on Aug 11 at the MLB Standings, how we got here, and what lies ahead in the pennant races.
Aug 11 MLB Standings Review
Well, we saw how the Oakland Athletics came out swinging on Sunday against the Astros, but the real slugfest was Monday night in Anaheim, as the Angels put some life back into their season with a rousing 10-9 victory that featured a pair of Mike Trout clouts, including the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth. Trout now has seven homers, putting any and all fears to rest about his willingness to play in the COVID-19 era.
The Padres also used the long-ball to knock off NL West rival Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium Monday night. It was all-or-nothing catcher Austin Hedges who went deep in the 2-1 victory, giving the Padres 30 homers on the season to lead the Major Leagues.
