Wednesday night was a great time for many NBA teams to show what they are capable of on the court. Some of the favorites were not winners at the end of the night, but the defensive actions and the number of points scored made the most difference.
Dallas Deals A Blow To Boston
The Dallas Mavericks were able to handle most of the game, especially the first half, to defeat the Boston Celtics in a tight game and earn their second consecutive victory. Luka Doncic scored 36 points and eight rebounds for a final score of 113-108 on Wednesday night. Jalen Brunson scored 21 points, while teammate Kristaps Porzingis added 19 extra points to contribute to the win.
Dallas survived despite committing six of their 16 turnovers in the final 12 minutes of the game and that was thanks to the big lead they had early in the game. Jayson Tatum scored 25 points and nine rebounds, while Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker added 24 and 22, respectively for the Celtics, who have lost their last two games. The Mavericks now visit New York to face the Knicks tomorrow night, while the Celtics remain at home to host the Houston Rockets on the same night.

The LA Lakers fell again after showing a recovery. This time the defending champions were defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks, 112-97 on Wednesday night. Jrue Holiday led the Bucks with a total of 28 points, while Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 25 points, helping the Bucks put their three-game losing streak behind them. The Lakers are still missing the great performances of their stars Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
Montrezl Harrell scored 19 points and Dennis Schröder added 17 points, but it wasn’t enough for a third straight win for the Lakers. Coming up next, both teams will have action tomorrow night. The Bucks face the Portland Trail Blazers, while the Lakers visit Sacramento to take on the Kings.
Grizzlies Not Enough For The Jazz
The fourth quarter was a crucial piece for Mike Conley, as he scored 13 of his 26 points during the final period for the Utah Jazz. Jordan Clarkson added 24 points to help the Jazz beat the Memphis Grizzlies 111-107. With this, the Jazz have managed to get their seventh straight win, which suggests that leading scorer Donovan Mitchell is not missing much at the moment. Bojan Bogdanovic also contributed 23 points for Utah, who defeated Memphis for the third time in a week.
For Memphis, Kyle Anderson had 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Dillon Brooks and Jonas Valanciunas finished the game with 17 and 16 points, respectively. As part of the schedule, both teams return to the court tomorrow night. The Jazz stay at home to face the Chicago Bulls, while the Grizzlies host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Nets Stumble Early, But Recover
Although the Brooklyn Nets were down by 18 points after just five minutes, they managed to pick themselves up for the rest of the game to defeat the Houston Rockets 120-108 on Wednesday night. With the absence of James Harden in the fourth quarter, Kyrie Irving showed he could pick up the slack for the team, and he didn’t disappoint after scoring a total of 31 points and a season-high 12 assists for the Nets, which move into first place in the East.
