The NBA is coming back July 30 and not a moment too soon for basketball fans who have been deprived a proper conclusion to the 2019-20 season since Rudy Gobert’s positive coronavirus test March 11 that set off the worldwide cascade of sports league cancellations. Now, the NBA will look to finish what it started with a 22-team “bubble” at the Disney Resorts in Orlando, an eight-game finish to the regular season and four best-of-7 playoff rounds to determine a champion. We take a look at each of the teams involved as we move closer to the official return and today we’ll look at the Dallas Mavericks team in our Sports Intel preview:
Dallas Mavericks Team Preview 2019-2020 Re-Boot
(38-25, 7th in West, 4 games behind No. 3)
Where we left off: The Mavericks went five for nine heading into the season pause forced by COVID-19. Most of the games were close, which put a lot of pressure on the team to find the wins. However, throughout the season, the Mavs were able to maintain a high degree of solid play and pulled off some key wins. They were headed for a playoff berth when the season stopped and will pick up where they left off when the games resume.
Remaining schedule: July 31, Houston Rockets; Aug. 2, Phoenix Suns; Aug. 4, Sacramento Kings; Aug. 6, LA Clippers; Aug. 8, Milwaukee Bucks; Aug. 10, Utah Jazz; Aug. 11, Portland Trail Blazers; Aug. 13, Suns.

Odds to Win Title: 40-1
Can they win it all? The Mavericks were dealing with a number of NBA injuries as the second half of the season was getting underway, so the pause in the action could swing the pendulum back in their favor. Players will be able to heal, recuperate strength and reorganize, and will be in good shape to make a run on the title. Having Luka Doncic on the court will help, but the Mavs will be in an even better position with Curry back to life. Throw in the 7’3” Porzingis, and things get really interesting. Despite some inconsistency in the regular season, the Mavericks are in a good spot to go all the way.
That’s all for our preview of the Dallas Mavericks team for the re-boot of the 2019-2020 NBA season.
