Game 3 of the NBA Finals Finds the Celtics and Warriors in Boston

Game 3 of the NBA Finals Finds the Celtics and Warriors in Boston

With the NBA Draft fast approaching, many teams are looking at making moves to improve their rosters or move up in their draft position. One team that is desperate to make a move is the Los Angeles Lakers. They don’t have any picks in the draft taking place on June 23 after the team’s 2022 picks were given to New Orleans in the Anthony Davis trade in 2019. However, that hasn’t stopped the Lakers from holding pre-draft workouts for potential prospects in the last couple of weeks.

GM Rob Pelinka has already confirmed the Lakers’ plans to get at least a second-round pick in the upcoming draft, and Davis may be part of their strategy to get on the board. One scenario could include trading him away to get a high draft pick or another superstar like Kyrie Irving of the Nets. He already has a championship with LeBron James on his resume with the Cavaliers.

Davis had a disappointing season plagued with injuries and had much less than his average production when he was in the lineup. Nevertheless, the Lakers and Davis are excited about the hiring of Darvin Ham as the next head coach.

If he is part of their plans for the future, the coach should find a way to utilize the superstar better this season. If they decide to trade him, the question will be if anyone wants to take on his massive salary if they think there’s a chance he’ll be on the bench again for most of next season.

The NBA Finals move to Boston as the Celtics host Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors. Here’s a look at what to expect in tonight’s matchup.

Warriors Look For Road Win In Boston

On Wednesday night, Golden State needs a win on the road to go up 2-1 and take back the home-court advantage in the series. Success in Boston seems inevitable for the team that has won at least one game on the road in their previous 26 playoff series, which is an NBA record. The Miami Heat held the prior record of 23 before the Warriors won on the road in Denver in the first round.

In Game 2, Golden State led by two points at the half and proceeded to outscore Boston 35-14 in the third quarter on their way to a 107-88 victory. Stephen Curry had 14 points in the third period and led all scorers with 29 for the game. Jordan Poole put the finishing touches on the big third quarter by sinking a three-pointer from almost half-court as the buzzer sounded to end the period.

The Celtics have not lost two straight games at any point during these playoffs. They also have a better record on the road this postseason, where they are 8-3 in the playoffs as opposed to their 5-4 mark at TD Garden. They also had the second-best road record in the east during the regular season behind Miami.

Three-point shooting will again be the area to keep an eye on for tonight’s game. Boston is making more shots from beyond the arc than on two-pointers, shooting 46.2% for the series. So as long as their defense holds up at home and they keep shooting well from the perimeter, Boston should produce much better than the playoff-low 88 points they scored in Game 2.

Boston will step up to the challenge and win Game 3 on their home floor.
